Department of Civil Engineering is a constituent
department of College of Engineering & Technology. Initially the department
was running to cater the requirements of other departments. However,
Department has started regular under graduate and post graduate program in
Civil Engineering in 2007. The Department has qualified and highly
experienced staff members in the fields required for the students. Special
lectures are also being delivered by the imminent civil engineers and
Professors as and when required. Seminar, educational tours and other
academic activities are also undertaken in order to aware them with latest
development in Civil engineering field. Students are encouraged to do their
project work in collaboration with local agencies and industries in order to
develop their confidence and to interact with field requirements. The
Department has laboratory facility to run the program efficiently. New
advanced laboratories have now been established in the field of structural
engineering and hydraulics. Apart from conducting field exercises, summer /
winter training camps, industrial visits, the Students Chapter of the Indian
Concrete Institute has also been established in the academic year 2007-08
Lab Facilities
The department has ten well equipped laboratories with the state of art
technology namely, Fluid mechanics, Fluid machinery, Surveying & Leveling,
Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Civil Engineering Drawing,
Computer Aided Designs, Transportation Engineering, Building materials &
Construction Technology, Structural Analysis
Research Activities
The faculty members of the department are presently engaged in research
activities in the field of geotechnical engineering and flow through porous
media, while others have successfully completed research work on 'malwa
(debris)' concrete. A couple of other faculty members are contemplating to
take up research work in the field of structural engineering and concrete
technology. Research work in the field of concrete debris, concrete
technology, geotechnical engineering, and hydraulics are also being carried
out
