The school established in 2005 has its own well equipped
lab especially for analysis of clue material related to the field of
forensic document examination, fingerprints, forensic chemistry, ballistics,
forensic physics, forensic biology, forensic sociology, forensic toxicology,
explosive analysis etc. The course is well recognized & supported by the
Directorate of Forensic Science, Ministry of Home affairs, Government of
India.
The Library of the school contains large number of books from renowned
foreign authors as well as Indian authors.
Lab Facilities
The school of Forensic Science has Following Laboratory Facilities
Fingerprint & Document Examination Lab: The Lab is well equipped with latest
fingerprint scanner for reading fingerprint with software for comparison.
For manual comparison of fingerprint, graduated magnifier with 5X
Magnification capacity and Stereo scopic Microscopes available, fingerprint
lifting equipment and illuminated graticular, magnifier for visualization is
also available. The Document examination lab contains, UV.& I.R Light
chamber, Indigenous made VSC, High DPI Scanner ,high resolution cameras for
recording examination data is also available in the lab. A questioned
document examination and analysis kit containing various types of gadgets
are also available. Chemistry and Toxicology Lab: Lab contains all type of
standard sample & their specific identification reagent kit. The lab is well
equipped with Chromatographic & Electrophoretic kits. Physics & Ballistic
Lab: Comparison Microscope, bullet receiving box, Bullet comparison
softwares, equipment of cement analysis & restoration of erased serial no.
Densitometer & Hot stage microscope. Explosive Examination Lab: All type of
standard samples for identification and comparison. Reagents, Other basic
instruments & kit for identification of various types of explosive residues.
Biology and Serology Lab: Facility for identification of body fluids,
tissues, hair, fiber, diatoms, comparison of plant materials, wood, leaf,
pollen grains, etc.
Research Activities
Following research have been going in the school of Forensic Science.
Identification of male & female plant at early stage of plant germinations
in case of Cannabis plant by DNA fingerprint (UGC-Scholar, JRF ),
Identification of various dismal species from Yamuna water for confirmation
of drowning death. Development of mechanical antidote for Dhatura poison,
Immuno Assay identification of explosive.
Beside these research work The student of M.Sc. Forensic Science undergo
Thesis / Dissertation in various disciplines of Forensic Science in
different Forensic Science labs. of the country. The main research areas
are, Forensic Toxicology, Forensic medicine, Fingerprint examination,
Document examination, Forensic Biology, Forensic Serology, DNA Forensic etc.
Development of various types of solvent extraction method for extraction of
various poison from viscera, Isolation and identification method development
for various type of Narcotic drugs, Other researches includes development of
various type of new fingerprint powders, development of fingerprints on
various type of surfaces, Development of plant based non toxic fingerprint
powders, Imaging & Verification of Digital Storage Media Using Forensic
Tools, Deleted Data Recovery from the suspect hard Disk Using Forensic Tool
Kit, Identification of Bullet Hole by different ammunition and Target
Materials, Studies on solvent extractions Efficiency & Detection of
Pesticide Residues in Viscera Samples by Thin Layer Chromatography and Gas
Chromatography-Mass spectrometry, Establishment of Paternity and Other
Family Relationship Using PCR Based DNA Fingerprinting; Case Study, Recovery
of Deleted File from Digital Storage Media (Floppy Disk Drive) Using
Forensic Tool Kit, Detection of Morphine & Codeine in Suspected Sample by
Color Tests, HPTLC and HPLC, Analysis of oganochloro insecticide in Forensic
Exhibits by TLC & GC-MS etc. |
