The Christian School of Health Sciences formerly known as
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences was established to cater to this need
of the health industry and is committed to the cause of providing quality
human resources well equipped with adequate knowledge, skills and attitudes;
to support and work in varied positions in the modern health industry.
Established in the year 2000, the faculty runs Post graduate programs in
Public Health (MPH), in Pharmaceutical Chemistry M.Sc. (Pharmaceutical
Chemistry), MBA (Pharmaceutical Management Programme), in Medical Laboratory
Technology M.Sc. (MLT), M. Pharm (Pharmaceutical Chemistry), undergraduate
programmes in B.Sc. (MLT), B. Pharma and Diploma in Pharmacy.
The pedagogy is essentially participative with emphasis on learning through
practical experiences. State of the- art teaching aids like LCD projectors
and OHP are used in the modern and well established classrooms and
auditorium. A stream of eminent guest speakers from academia and the health
industry are invited every semester to update the students on recent trends
and demands in the health profession. The department has fully equipped
modern laboratories for practicals and research work. A rich and
continuously expanding library shelving the latest books, journals and
magazines help fulfill the student's quest for knowledge. A computer lab
with internet facility also exists within the School. Apart from this the
students are free to avail the facilities of the computer lab in main
university campus. The Haye's Memorial Mission Hospital of the university
offers immense opportunities of medical research and training for our
students. The school has 13 well equipped labs in various areas like
bio-chemistry, microbiology, pharma cognosy anatomy and physiology etc. The
labs are used by various programs of the school providing a rich and
stimulating environment of learning and sharing practical experiences.
Students are encouraged to prepare and write competitive examinations like
GATE and MAT and consequently the faculty can boast of a number of successes
each progressive year. In the session 2008-09 twenty four students were
qualified GATE and one student qualified MAT examination through this
faculty and carrying on higher studies in reputed Universities.
The Master in Public Health degree is a two year (four semester) program
that prepares the students to face old and new public health challenges like
HIV/AIDS pandemic, the threat of bio-terrorism, epidemics ranging from heart
disease to cancer to obesity, geriatrics, food and water safety, high risk
behaviors like smoking, substance abuse etc. that endanger the health of our
populace. The program has four specialization branches viz. Reproductive
Health, Health System Management, Program Design and Management and
communication and Training in Health. Our alumni are working effectively in
various capacities in health projects and programmes in national and
international organizations on reputed post as well as in the Government
institutions with in the country and abroad.
The MBA-Pharmaceutical Management is a two year (four semester) program,
providing unique learning to develop skills in decision making, controlling,
leading and motivating; multidisciplinary activities in the ever changing,
dynamic environment of the pharmaceutical industry. The alumnus have been
placed in various positions in marketing in leading pharmaceutical companies
like Cipla, Lupin, Torrent, Unichem Laboratories, Ranbaxy, Glaxo-Smith &
Kline, Optho Remedies etc
The M.Sc. Medical Lab Technology (MLT) is a two year post graduate program
providing opportunities to specialize in a) Microbiology and Immunology and
b) Bio-chemistry. On completion of M.Sc. MLT, technologists can advance to
supervisory or management positions in hospitals and medical laboratories.
M.Pharm (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) is a two year Post Graduate program
providing opportunities to specialize in Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
B.Sc. MLT is a four year (eight semesters) program in which the students are
trained on campus for six semesters and the last two semesters are for
internship in hospital. The students are trained to work in all major areas
of medical technology viz. Blood Banking, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology,
Immunology, Microbiology, Cytotechnology, Phlebotomy, Urinalysis,
Coagulation, Parasitoloy and Serology. The department has well equipped
state-of-the-art labs to train the students in these fields.
The Bachelor of Pharmacy is a four year (eight semesters) program approved
by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The department has well equipped
thirteen laboratories as per PCI norms. Owing to the state-of-the-art
facilities made available to the students and the dedication of the faculty
members, Our B.Pharm graduates are working in different divisions of the
pharmaceutical industry like pharmaceutical production, Quality Assurance,
Research and Development in Clinical Research, Education and Research and
Drug Inspection.
D.Pharm is a two year Programme approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
The department has well equipped laboratories as per PCI norms.

The school offers excellent laboratory facilities for the students, the
school is equipped with Pharmaceutical Engineering Lab, Pharmaceutical
Machinery Lab, Pharmaceutical Medicinal Chemistry Lab, Pharmaceutical
Analysis Lab, Pharmaceutical Instrumental Lab, Microbiology Lab, Anatomy
Physiology Lab, Pharmacology Lab, Pharmacognosy Lab, Histology and Cytology
Lab, Physical and Industrial Pharmacy Lab, Herbal Garden etc.

The thrust areas of research in Pharmacy - Development of new dry delivery
systems; Development of new dry molecules; Medicinal plant research;
Pharmacological research
In Public Health - HIV; AIDS; Family planning; Health; Immunization;
Hygiene & Nutrition.
In Medical Laboratory Technology-
Microbiology and Infectious diseases of the urinary tract; Respiratory tract
and Genital tract.
