Preamble:
The Allahabad Agricultural Institute- Deemed
University (AAI-DU) is a united endeavour of the
Christian community in India, for promoting rural
life and development in conformity with the
Christian vision in relation with the human kind and
the creation. The University is held in Trust as a
common ecumenical heritage by the Christian Churches
and Christian Organisations of the country. It seeks
to be a national centre of professional excellence
in education and service to the people with the
participation of its students and faculty members
from all over India.
The University upholds and strives to achieve the
following:
a) Responsible stewardship of the environment and
its resources.
b) Sustainable development.
c) Linkage of Learning and Research to the needs and
life of the people.
d) Justice to the minorities, and other weaker
sections of the society, especially to women and the
rural poor.
e) Holistic formation of the human person in, with
and through the community for leadership instilled
by Christian values.
f) National Unity and communal harmony.
g) International fellowship and co-operation in the
educational and development ministry in the service
of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
In all of the above, the University helps the young
and old without coercion or compulsion to deepen
their commitment to a life of service as exemplified
in JESUS CHRIST; by means of presentation of the
Gospel through teaching, worship and witness in
accordance with the Christian belief.
The University is striving to acquire a place in the
arena of International Science and Technology while
holding a pioneering status in India. The University
offers thirty seven (37) Undergraduate Programmes,
eighty two (82) Postgraduate programmes, fourteen
(14) Diploma programmes and Doctoral programe in
various disciplines.
The teaching and research faculties of the
University have highly qualified professionals,
trained in specialized areas of Agricultural Science
and Technology with several of them holding Post
Graduate degrees & Doctoral Degrees from
universities abroad.
Being a Deemed University, Allahabad Agricultural
Institute-Deemed University does not require any
approval from All India Council for Technical
Education (AICTE) for technical and Management
courses and is empowered to award degrees as
specified and notified under section 22 of
University Grant Commission (UGC) Act 1956
(Notification No F.2-1/2006 U.3(A) dated 7th April
2006) issued by Ministry of Human Resource
Development (MHRD), Department of Secondary & Higher
Education, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Students enrolled in the academic programmes are
exposed to various technical training, which enables
them to develop skills in their respective field.
The University keeps the students informed about
potential job opportunities and helps them in making
prudent decisions for their future careers. It
maintains and promotes close linkages and active
contact with potential employers both National and
Multinational, while involving their executives and
facilitates their interaction with the students
through lectures, discussions and classroom
participation. The University also strives to
prepare it’s students to take their places as farm
managers, agricultural scientists, agricultural
officers, extension workers, managers,
educationists, agricultural administrators,
agricultural scientists, bio-technologists,
micro-biologists, bio-chemists, engineers, software
professionals, dairy technologists, nutritionists,
textile designers, theologians and pharmacists.
AAI-DU is a recognized member of International
Association of Universities, Indian Association of
Agricultural Universities and Association of Indian
Universities.
Objectives of the University:
a) To conduct and manage the affairs of University,
which is a Christian Educational Institution herein
after, referred to as the “Institute/Deemed
University” established and administered by the
society.
b) To promote and provide instruction and training
in areas of study relevant to Agriculture, Rural
Economic Development, Agricultural Engineering &
Technology, Animal Health, Human Health, Sanitation,
Home Science Management, Community Development,
Health Education, Christian Studies and other
relevant Sciences, Technologies and Humanities for
all round improvement in the quality of life through
Deemed University or other campuses, colleges,
Institutions of the society within and outside the
country.
c) Opportunities for the integration of formal and
non-formal learning with practical experience in
these fields.
d) Research relevant to emerging agricultural and
rural problems. Introduce programmes of teaching and
extension work for agriculture, human health,
women’s development, rural development and
vocational programmes and to uplift socio- economic
status of the people in rural India.
e) Education at all levels to children, adults,
women in the State and Country, especially those
living in the rural neighborhood of the Institute.
f) To serve and work towards the of rural life both
amongst the Church and Her people and the general
population in the rural areas.
g) To fulfill the command “Feed the Hungry” received
by the founder, by undertaking transfer of
technology mission in order to enable Indian farmers
to produce more food and achieve self-reliance.
h) To accomplish the vision of “The Gospel and the
Plough” enunciated by the founders of the Institute
which means to convey the message of freedom from
spiritual and material poverty through the
technology of agriculture together with preaching of
the message of Jesus Christ, healing and evangelism
for salvation of all mankind.
i) To provide opportunities for education and
“learning by doing” in areas of agriculture and
rural economic development geared to the promotion,
advancement and sharing of scientific knowledge, in
particular for the development of Christian men and
women and for the rural population of India and
others in general.
j) To prepare young men and women as citizens imbued
with the zeal and spirit of service, in keeping with
the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
k) To give effect to the spirit of national and
international goodwill and friendship and
partnership, as well as the desires of the people of
other areas and countries to share their best with
each other for the overall sustainability of human
life on planet earth.
l) To provide and promote instruction and training
in such branches of learning as the Society may deem
appropriate.
m) To do all such other acts and things as may be
necessary or desirable to further the objects of the
Society.
n) To do all such things as may be incidental and
necessary or conducive to the attainment of all or
any of the objects of the society referred to or
implied above.
o) To maintain the historical Christian character
and vision of the Institute established by the
Christian Churches and Christian organizations under
the leadership of Dr. Sam Higginbottom.
p) To Supervise/evaluate and promote the work of the
Deemed University, Church work, School and Colleges,
Campuses of the Institute, Social activities,
Religious & Charitable activities, other educational
and Auxiliary units.
