The college facilitates improvement of quality of life for disempowered, disadvantaged peoples groups through holistic, integrated rural development activities and capacity-building of village communities. New packages of farming have been introduced which emphasize sustainable and environmental friendly agriculture. Its focus in on rural leaders including women and men belonging to different cultural backgrounds and NGOs, based especially in northern parts of India and abroad, who are working in the field of development for oppressed, less privileged people at the grass root level.

The department focuses on agricultural leadership training programe designed to enable young men and women from diverse rural development agencies. They are trained to accomplish the task of training their local communities to manage their farming lands efficiently.

It concentrate on organizing organic farmers cooperatives in different target areas.The cooperative members are actively involved in producing organic vegetables, food processing, alternative marketing and cooperative management.
