The College was established in the year 2000 with the aim
of providing comprehensive programmes fulfilling the need of a growing field
of health profession under one roof. It has various divisions of public
health, allied sciences and medical sciences. It has under it a teaching
hospital known as Hayes Memorial Mission Hospital, which also serves as a
medical research and training centre. The faculty provides well-equipped
laboratory facilities and modern class rooms with modern technologies for
teaching.
The Master of Public Health is a two-year course, having four specialization
branches viz. Reproductive Health, Health System Management, Programme
Design and Management and Communication and Training in Health. This
programme intends to create public health specialists who can head various
health programmes and health projects in government and non-governmental
agencies countrywide and international/UN agencies are also bright with this
degree. Other future prospects for the candidates are research, academics
etc. Health Care Planning and Policy making at the government level is
another area.
The MBA (Pharmaceutical Management) is a two-year programme. It provides a
unique learning opportunity to be managers in marketing, exports and
production in reputed pharmaceutical companies. A candidate can have a
carrier in marketing field in various multinational pharmaceutical
industries as marketing and sales executive area and zonal manager, business
development executive etc.
The Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm) is a four-year (eightsemesters) degree
program and being operated as per the norms of Pharmacy Council of India.
Pharmacists are one of the core members of the health team. A pharmacy
graduate can have different carrier opportunities such as hospital
pharmacist, manufacturing pharmacist, marketing executive, government
authority and academician.
The B Sc MLT (Medical Lab Technology) programme trains the students as
Medical Lab Technologists. Candidates have opportunities in the government
and private medical laboratories and pathology research centres. They can
also work as marketing executives/sales promoter for the for the medical
laboratory equipment and diagnostic instruments.
The B Sc Health Science (Health Mgt.) is a foundation degree, which prepares
students for a range of career paths in the health sector, including
administration, management, marketing, finance and research, as well as for
entry to postgraduate programmes in other health specialties. This is
four-year (eight-semesters) course. Candidates have opportunities in the
government and non-government medical and general health services and in
health research organizations, especially in administration, management,
finance, promotion, sales and marketing across a broad range of medical and
health products (including diagnostic equipment and pharmaceuticals),
project management, clinical research, community health groups, self help
groups, rehabilitation centres, welfare agencies and health insurance.
The faculty also offers M. Sc MLT - Clinical Bio Chemistry and Micro Biology
& Immunology of four semesters, M. Sc Pharmaceutical Chemistry for four
semesters, PGDBM for two semesters and Postgraduate diploma in Punchkarma.
The faculty offers lateral entry to third semester of B. Pharm. programme
(if seats are available) for those who have completed D. Pharm. with 50%
marks from PCI approved institute/college.
